Today (Friday) was a work day because most of the students were gone to Freshman transition camp (as senior mentors).
Today (Thursday) was a work day. The students worked on their Works Cited pages that are due tomorrow at 11:59 pm.
We took notes over introductions, conclusions, and titles today. The students need to start working on their essays. The Works Cited assignment is due on Friday at 11:59 pm, and the students have conferences with me next week over their rhetorical analyses.

We took notes over style today: high, middle, low, sensitive, and economical. We also looked at examples of each kind.
We took notes over MLA formatting today. Since the students mostly know this already, I just reviewed certain aspects of MLA formatting that are special and/or apply to them specifically for certain papers. We took notes over rhetorical analysis again today. We reviewed rhetorical appeals and worked through a couple of example essays together in class. I also passed out the How to Read Literature Like a Professor activities and discussed due dates. Activities through Chapter 13's are due by October 6, and all activities are due by the end of the semester as their semester final. Fun.
